Welcome! Beacon Preservation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of lighthouses and their environments for educational, cultural, recreational, and historical preservation purposes. Our mission is to ensure that communities, civic organizations, and educational and research institutions are able to enjoy access to these important icons of nautical history. |
Be A Keeper... and receive a lighthouse print AND become eligible for a 24-hour “Keeper Visit” (complete with transportation to and from North Haven, Maine) at Goose Rocks Light for up to six guests. Become a Guardian-Angel with a donation of $1000 and enjoy one of only 30 Guardian of the Light experiences for up to six guests at Goose Rocks Light. View our new online Calendar for Goose Rock availability! |
Restoration and Education We have restored several historic properties throughout New England, including the 1865 Greek Neoclassical former Savings Bank of Ansonia building (our corporate headquarters in Connecticut) and Goose Rocks Lighthouse in the Fox Island Thorofare of North Haven, Maine. Our latest acquisition, the Penfield Reef Light off of Bridgeport, Connecticut, is the place-based learning site of Beacon's new Green Light Academy, a high school-level sustainable energy educational program we launched in 2009. |
Community Involvement In June 2008, Lowes Home Improvement granted our current wish list for Goose Rocks with $10,000 worth of equipment and building materials. See our Photo Gallery. We also enjoy close ties with area schools and universities with whom we collaborate on education and research. |
